Birth

I had to go. There were so many ‘could’s but once we left, it did not matter. Rishi was excited, He was so positive he will make it to spiti; I was pitching for Sangla. Spiti in an alto was hmmm…. not actually rugged but too much of responsibility. I was cent percent sure I

Infancy

I do not like the highways, The himalayan expressway was a delight. World class highway on the mountains, just the thing we needed to boost us after the night long drive. The music now had more beats, the car had more speed and world was brighter. nothing lasts forever, someone said. I hated him. The highway

Infancy II

The ski point in either fagu or narkanda, i do not exactly remember and trust me it is not worth googling, was another disappointment. I was lowering my bars of expectation already. i wanted to just keep on driving. so did Rishi. oh, I did get my first souvenir of the trip here. A plastic thread[…]

Infancy III

We drove to kalpa. It was supposed to be a good place to stay. But we were late. We did come across a travellers’ den in Kalpa, The kinds i loved but it failed to impress Rishi. Nonetheless we found a decent place to rest our bones, we also found some company. this group of three guys,[…]

Adolescence

We had to pit stop for the night at Chango, we cannot make it to Tabo, its too far, and no traffic lights for sure. Our tourist map we got from the himachal pradesh tourism department hotel wrongly said chango was 300m higher than nako, and we never settle for anything less. So we wrongly chose the[…]

Adolescence II

Chango looked beautiful early in the morning. It reminded me of my maternal village. More beautiful was the monastery and the writing on the mountain as seen from the village. I did not go to the monastery, it seemed too far for me to walk. I had to get back in time, Rishi was still[…]

Maturity

The mountains were becoming sterner. The Lahaul valley had rougher terrain. Beyond this range was Manali. Most tourists took Manali-Kaza route to reach Spiti, eventhough the route was much steeper. There were glaciers on the peaks; they were beautiful to look at from so close. I remember a particular one on the left side of

Maturity II

They were 4 of them. Me and Rishi became pinion riders for the first two and the third one was riding with his girl, she was from Punjab I guess. My driver was from bangalore, I love that city. They drove at 60 on the narrow edges of the slippery mountains; the same mountains had

Alto, Lets Go

And this video may be how our Alto must have seen it. I must say it was quiet a bone shattering or lets say awakening experience for the car. 2000 kms, 1200 on the mountains, Alto, saw it all. from greens to stones to mountain tops to fog. I neither shoot good nor do I edit good,
